EKI takes second in Orlando

3. February 2020

The real life NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning hosted an annual NHL20 gaming tournament in Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. 369 international players tried their luck in the online qualifiers but only 4 best made it to the final event in the US. Erik “EKI” Tammenpaa was one of them, as he only lost 1 game in the whole qualifiers to eken45jr 8:9 who was considered EKI´s biggest rival at the final event. The tournament offered a $5.000 prizepool split for all four players.

In Orlando, only 4 games were scheduled to play. Two semifinals, 3rd place match and the final. All games were played in best-of-three mode and streamed on Twitch (VOD). EKI won his semifinal match against the crowd favorite JrPens91 with a 2:1 score and was then about to face Canadiens27 in the final series. Canadiens27, who in his semifinal series surprisingly beat eken45jr, was on in great form and ready to take his first victory from an offline event. The paper favorite EKI did not prove his role this time and came 2 games short from the Canadian player. With that, EKI brings home $1.500 and another great achievement as his TOP3 streak from offline events continues.
