CS:GO

Interview with our CS:GO player Desty

13. March 2020

Our CS:GO team will face Closed Qualifier of Tipsport COOL league tomorrow as they will fight for advancement to the first league. Dominik “Desty” Černý told us who is the biggest opponent, what motivates him, and what are the downsides of full-time gaming.

How did you start? Did you have any role models back then?

I started like everyone else, I think. It was at MatchMaking with blogg1s, who is currently playing for eSuba. It’s been some time, but I remember I looked up to shox and scream. That was when scream was still playing in tier 1 team.

Have you ever thought that gaming will become your full-time job one day?

It has always been a dream of mine. Playing the game you love so much and having the opportunity of doing it full time… That’s just a dream come true. And I think every professional gamer feels this.

Even though it’s a dream come true, it probably has its downsides.

It’s a lot of stress. You have training every day, and you need to sacrifice a lot of time to be great. But it’s like with everything else – if you want to be best at something, you have to give it all you have.

For how many hours a day do you train?

We are training as a team and then each of us individually. So it can be around 10 hours a day, sometimes more.

Do you sometimes have those moments when you don’t wanna play anymore? What gets you back to the game?

Everyone has those moments. For me, it’s always a momentary thing, so I just need to distract myself from it. I’m looking forward to when it’s warm and sunny outside, and I will be able to go cycling or running. It’s a great escape and relaxation. Right now, I’m just watching tv shows.

What are you watching?

Currently, it’s Friends.

What’s your biggest goal? And what motivates you?

Right now, I just want to be #1 on our scene, of course. And while doing that, focus on Europe and then the whole world. My biggest motivation is the opportunity to play full-time and the possibility of improving more and more each day.

You will face the Closed Qualifier of the Tipsport COOL league tomorrow. Who do you think it the biggest threat?

At the moment, I think the strongest team is Sinners. They are in amazing shape. Although we need to watch out for everyone. As we all know, everyone can surprise.

How do you fight nervousness before the matches?

I don’t usually deal with it. I don’t even have it, especially since forji helped me with that (thank you!). For extra relaxation, I just play some songs, and I feel fine.

What is the most important trait a professional player needs?

I think it’s mainly an incredibly good psyche. Without it, the player cannot succeed and stay among the very best.

Are you looking forward to the gaming house? Are you worried about something?

Truth to be told, I’ve never been to any gaming house or a longer boot camp. I’m looking forward to all the benefits we will have there. I’m not worried about anything. We will see how things go and what will happen.

Is there something you would like to say to your fans and new CS:GO players?

I want to thank every single fan we have for simply being themselves. I’m incredibly grateful for every one. And to new players… I would like to say, that if you mean it seriously and you want to be someone, you have to put a lot of hours and effort into the game.

Thank you for the answers and good luck! The Closed Qualifier will take place on 14th and 15 March, each day will start at 12 pm CET. Two wins are needed for advancement. Come to cheer on playzone Twitch, and support our team.
