ZrT Trackmania Cup 2019 Qualifiers

5. June 2019

This upcoming weekend, our Trackmania players, Martin ‘’Kappa’’ Krompolc and Marek ‘’tween’’ Pacher will team up for the ZrT Trackmania Cup 2019. 8 different duos will qualify themselves for the offline phase of the cup in Zenith de Strasbourg stadium with a capacity of 12.079 spectators.

ZrT Trackmania Cup is the biggest event in Trackmania when it comes to attention and viewership. Once we enter Strasbourg at the end of June, over 7000 fans will travel to watch the finals live. Those who won’t attend the event in person will follow the event on the Twitch stream by ZeratoR. It’s likely that the number will be anywhere between 90,000 and 120,000 viewers.

The cup has already gathered over 65,000 new players on the training servers.

Our two Trackmania players have both attended the cup before. However, only Martin ‘’Kappa’’ Krompolc has been able to make it to the offline venue back in 2017. Marek ‘’tween’’ Pacher´s runs at the cup have stopped in the quarter-finals the three last years.

This year the French streamer and host of the event, Adrien ‘’ZeratoR’’ Nougaret, has decided to switch things up a bit. Instead of the 7th consecutive solo edition, we will see the first ever duo edition. The Sampi duo who placed 1st and 2nd at the world championship last year found it natural to team up with each other.

Qualification system:

ROUND 1: Saturday 14:00 – 600 Best duos advances

ROUND 2: Saturday 15:30 – 300 Best duos advances

ROUND 3: Saturday 17:00 – 160 Best duos advances

ROUND 4: Saturday 18:30 – 80 Best duos advances

ROUND 5: Saturday 20:00 – 32 Best duos advances

ROUND 6: Sunday 17:00 – 16 Best duos advances

ROUND 7: Sunday 19:00 to 22:00. – 8 Best duos advances

Stream: www.twitch.tv/zerator

The 8 duos who make it to Strasbourg, France will need to wait until June 29th to battle it out for the first ever duo trophy of the cup.

Marek ‘’tween’’ Pacher who tried to make it to it last year offline finals tells that motivation for training was low last year. ‘’In 2018 the practice went over my head. There was no ‘’Kappa’’ to push me to train’’.

‘’tween’’ also mentions that being a teammate with ‘’Kappa’’ in Team Sampi could be a benefit for the duo. Already knowing each other, and how the other player reacts under different circumstances. ‘’I think the duo part of the cup is helping us. Because we already have everything to facilitate that.’’

With the cup growing and growing for every year, we see ‘’ZeratoR’’ booking a venue that holds over 7000 spectators in Strasbourg, France. To compare, the world championship finals had less than a tenth of that. Marek comments it: ’’ The venue that is going to be played at is huge. It’s the biggest venue that the game has ever since, and therefore the biggest I’ve ever seen. That would be a big thing to play in front of such an absurd amount of people.’’

Statement from Martin ‘’Kappa’’ Krompolc:

‘’Despite starting with the training process quite late, we are getting better day by day. I expect mainly a lot of fun which ZrT cup delivers every year, but we are heading to the qualification fully focused and determined to succeed. I can’t really tell yet if the 2v2 system suits us better, it could either make us stronger or more vulnerable, that depends on particular tracks. I have already attended the main event 2 years ago, so I know what we are playing for – the atmosphere is incredible and really pushes you to go beyond your limits. Let’s get Team Sampi to Strasbourg together!’’
