Crushing defeat: Farewell, European Masters

23. March 2020

It was supposed to be just another step to Hitpoint Legends cup and ticket to European Masters. But in the end, we have left the semi-final with disappointment and loss of 3:1.

“Greetings, everyone. Unfortunately, after tomorrow’s series, the gate to European Masters is closed for us,” starts his statement Michal “Bronko” Šembera, team’s coach. “During the week, we’ve trained as much as we could. But our performance in the match was much worse than the one we had in training.”

Team stood in BO5 series against Cyber Gaming, and since the first map, it was obvious that CG was well prepared. They managed to get first kill in the sixth minute, but the rest of the game was balanced. While our team focused on map controlling objectives, CG was getting one dragon after another. In thirty-fifth minute, our team managed to kill all of the players, but they turned the tables just a moment later. In the thirty-eight minute, they ended the game.

Cyber Gaming was doing well even on the second map, especially after our team failed to catch Proker with Orianna (7/2/7). They got Baron, and it looked like another victory will be theirs. But our players successfully killed the whole team and ended the fight in 37:05. Dread with Azire (7/3/8) showed especially great performance and received the MVP title for the game. Another great player was Dreedy with Sett (6/3/8).

After the victory, our players started the third map with confidence and had a great early game. They won a couple of team fights, but as time went, Cyber Gaming showed much better team performance. They got their second victory during a twenty-eight minute.

The final verdict came with the fourth map. After a quick start and first blood in the fourth minute, the match started to slow down. Even though our team got a dragon and a couple of kills, we lost four players in the fight next to Baron. And in the next team fight, the whole pentad fell. Cyber Gaming got to our base and ended the whole series in thirty-second minute.

“There were a lot of individual mistakes and rushed decisions, which got us to a disadvantageous position. I don’t want to judge individual players, we’ve lost the series as a team. The only thing to do now is to learn from those mistakes and make something useful out of them.” The team can show its strength on Sunday, March 29th, when they will fight with Inside Games for the third place. “We just want to congratulate our opponent and wish them the best of luck in Europe,” adds Šembera.
