If you think that players only participate in tournaments, you’re mistaken. Our NHL19 guys Arttu ‘’Artuzio’’ Mustila and Erik ‘’EKI’’ Tammenpää hosted the Sampi NHL19 Cup recently – in collaboration with Team Sampi and NHLGamer. After more than 3 months of playing, the tournament is now finished.
31 players, 29 from Finland and 2 from Sweden, signed up to the first edition of the cup. The tournament had a prize pool of €2,430. First place was rewarded with €1,600, while 2nd place took home €700. In addition to this, the winner of each conference took home €65.
The tournament saw Europe’s best players signing up and participating. Names like PleeMaker, Hansulinho, xDoumi and eken45jr were some of the notable names.
Top 8 from each conference would face off in the playoffs. Notable for this tournament is that all players had to play every game with their own team.
In the end, it was the Swede eken45jr who took home the first-ever Sampi NHL19 Cup, alongside €1,600. The runner-up, xDoumi, didn’t go home empty-handed and was rewarded €700. eken45jr and Dominointi took 1st in each of their conferences and won €65.
Statement from Arttu ‘’Artuzio’’ Mustila:
‘’The tournament was very high-level. We had all top players from Europe in the tournament. What makes tournament special was that everyone has to play every game with their own team. So teams were pretty uneven at some match-ups. Had to play with different strategies than normally because of that… NHLGamer helped us a lot with tournament pages so big thanks to them too.’’
