EKI qualifies for Bolts Challenge in Florida

21. January 2020

The official NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning will be hosting the 2020 Bolts Chel Challenge in NHL20. 369 players played the qualifier which took over two days to complete but only 4 best players qualified to face off in front of a live audience at The Fortress at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida on February 1, 2020 for a $5,000 prize purse. Interestingly enough, the qualified players are all from different countries. EKI (FIN), JrPens91 (USA), eken45jr (SWE) and Canadiens (CAN).

Statement of Erik “EKI” Tammenpaa

“Really happy to make it to Tampa Bay. First big 1v1 tournament of the year I can participate in and it was really good to get results right away. It’s actually great to to see 4 different nations being represented in Tampa and I’m excited to compeate against the 3 quality players there!””

After relatively easy first random bracket, players were then put into the TOP32 bracket. In the very first round, EKI played against his Hansulinho who took 2nd place at the European qualifier for NHL Gaming World Championship 2019 and, together with EKI, qualified for the final event to Las Vegas. EKI was able to take this game home with 5-2 score. Then, EKI was set to play against eken45jr who, after an incredible game, sent EKI to losers bracket after beating him 9-8.

Since EKI fell into losers bracket from winners bracket quarter-finals, he was put straight into round 4 to play against BoilyHp and was able to beat him 3-2. The next opponent for EKI was PleeMaker who is known for playing well against him. However this time though, EKI won 7-0 in a very one-sided match. This was it. One more win and EKI would qualify to Orlando. His opponent was Vattu who is an upcoming player. EKI used his experience and defeated Vattu with a score of 4-2.
